Sponsored by Keep Tampa Bay Beautiful - Volunteers are needed to protect Tampa Bay! Bring your kayak, canoe, paddle-board, or motorboat to help remove litter and debris from the Hillsborough River.

This event is open to volunteers with access to their own water vessel, but we will also have volunteers on land to clean up litter and debris along the shoreline, and throughout Lowry Park and the surrounding neighborhood before it ends up in the Hillsborough River.  All water-based volunteers will launch from the Lowry Park Boat Ramp.

YMKN members who volunteer the full time will receive three (3) volunteer hour credits.  To participate, please RSVP to this event (so we know you're going) and also on EventBrite (so KTBB knows you're going).

This is a public event with a limit on the number of volunteers, so register today if you want to go.

Register on EventBrite (Note: KTBB's EventBrite link isn't active yet).

LAST CHANCE TO GET FINAL VOLUNTEER HOURS.

Join us at the Humane Society of Tampa Bay on Armenia Avenue for a volunteer event. We'll mostly be providing some love and attention to the animals.  There might be some cleanup type tasks, but nothing too messy.

Volunteer Hours:  The Humane Society requires all volunteers to be there at 8:30 so they can provide instructions to us as a group.  Members who arrive on time at 8:30 am and stay until 11 will receive 4 hours of volunteer time (that's 1 1/2 hours extra!).

Donations Needed: The Humane Society is in dire need of old blankets and towels to use as bedding now that we're getting into cooler weather, so please donate if you can.

Additional Information Provided by the Humane Society:

    • Parking - You can park in any of our street parking or in the overflow lot located at Gulf Fabrics (this is the warehouse business next door to us, and you will see the HSTB signs for additional parking).
    • Where to Meet - you will head towards the left side of our building – you will see a gazebo and seating area. Wait in that area, and a staff member will come out around the start time for that shift and show you where to go!
    • Attire – please be sure all groups members are wearing a mask in they are not fully vaccinated (Masks are currently required for all unvaccinated volunteers while inside the shelter), close-toed shoes, and comfy clothes that will be fine indoors or outdoors.
    • Dog Walking Protocols – Please make sure that everyone knows that they should always keep an eye on the dog, pick up the poop, and enjoy the wonderful outside area.  Please watch this video before you come: https://youtu.be/QHY974SodNc.
    • Allergies – Please be aware that you may come into contact with various animals and we cannot guarantee that you will only work with one animal as the needs for the day you are there might include helping in the areas for the dogs, cats, rabbits, or other small animals.
    • Tasks – It is not possible to request specific tasks or animals when you arrive, so please make sure that all members of your group are comfortable with walking medium to large dogs as getting the dogs out for walks in the morning is one of the primary tasks for groups.  We do not always have a lot of small dogs and puppies available, so you may be asked to take larger dogs out for walks while their kennels get cleaned.
    • Medical Isolation Areas - Please do not enter any kennel areas with signs stating “Staff Only” or “Do Not Enter” for the health and safety of our animals.
    • Pictures – Please do not take any photos of animals in the Lower Level (Cats or dogs in Kennels 1-6) of the shelter as none of those animals are ready for adoption yet and posting pictures of those animals causes confusion for the public and more work for our Adoption staff.  However, If you see any adoptable animals on the main Adoption Floor, you can feel free to take and post pictures of those animals. :-)

    Ahoy Nauti Mates!

It's time once again for the annual YMKN trip to Key West for Hemingway Days.

To keep things simple and allow for maximum flexibility, the Krewe does not manage this event, i.e., you need to make your own travel arrangements and lodging reservations.

Where to Stay (or try to get close by):

Rose Lane Villas and Old Towne Manor

Options for travel to Key West:

This part is up to you depending on your preference and budget.  You can drive, fly or take the ferry from Fort Myers.

Flights: From TPA, United, Silver and American have flights on the 21st and 24th.  From PIE, Allegiant offers flights, but their schedule is limited so as of now, you'd have to fly on the 22nd and 25th.

Ferry:  There is a ferry from Fort Myers to Key West almost every day.

About us

Ye Mystic Krewe of the Nautilus is a 501c3 organization dedicated to having fun while promoting philanthropy, environmental awareness and conservation of our beautiful Tampa Bay Area.  We do this through participation in the Gasparilla parades and related events, as well as a variety of hands-on activities with our charitable partners.

Our mission is to promote Florida environmental awareness and conservation through friendly partnerships, education, charity sponsorship and community service. We volunteer and participate in various clean-up and conservation projects in the Tampa Bay area.  We also raise funds for the 1 Voice Foundation in order to enhance current programs for children & families fighting pediatric cancer.
